The West Torrance Lions Club was founded in 1964 by a group of professionals who wanted to serve the community that had meant so much to them personally and professionally.

The West Torrance Lions Club All Star Football Game was inaugurated the very next year. The proceeds from this game and the dedication of West Torrance Lions members have provided seed funding and management direction for many local institutions, including the district 4L-3 Mobile Screening Unit (the “Eye-mobile”), the Lions Wilderness Camp for Deaf Children, the Lions Wilderness Camp at Teresita Pines, the Attic Youth Center, the Torrance YMCA, and the Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation of Southern California (formerly the Southern California Lions Eye Institute).

We provide funding and public relations exposure to groups who serve the disabled, particularly the blind, the hearing impaired, and those with autistic spectrum disorders.

In addition, the West Torrance Lions Club provides direct awards to individuals. Among other awards, we provide eyeglasses to Torrance school children, and “hard goods” such as stoves, microwaves, refrigerators, and even blankets and clothes to hard working families with specific short-term needs.
